Our large but charming "Camp Comfort" cottage is 30 feet from the water with breathtaking panoramic views of a very large lake in the rolling hills of the upper Appalachians. Fabulous for sailing and wind surfing. This is a non-tourist, largely Francophone farming area. Perfect for your retreat, romantic getaway, and especially designed for family reunions. Take a visual tour of the cottage here.

All 12 months of photos are found on the right side menu.

Canoeing, sailing, good fishing, and swimming. Stroll the Camp Comfort lane and the old Route #1, enjoy the loons. So heavily wooded you will never see a neighbor. Since 2009, the adjacent fully equipped log cabin, and all the boats are included with the large cottage in all summer rentals. And that has attracted even larger families, people who need a great big place to be together.

This is the original Axtell's family cottage at Camp Comfort bought in 1921 by my grandmother from New York City. Telka was lured to the lake for the fishing and also probably as reminded her of the lovely rolling hills of her native Slovakia. This is a cottage community with lots of history; to see pictures from the 40-50's go here. Our region also attracted several Swiss families in the 1980's. I've been working on the property for over twenty five years as a labour of love. This past winter we added the Icelandic hot tub that our guests appreciate a lot. Teaming up with Ô Lotus instructor Josephine Mackay, we now hosts over a dozen yoga retreats a year, taking the body and soul to a new level of wellness. Our returnees like the zenification so far.
