Centuries ago, a dynamic form of bodywork based on yoga and traditional Indian medicine was born in the temples of Thailand. In this unique therapeutic approach - widely known as traditional Thai massage - the practitioner guides the client in a series of gentle but powerful stretches while massaging muscles, balancing energy lines, and activating pressure points.

Thai massage is performed on a mat on the floor. Both client and practitioner are comfortably dressed, allowing for ease and flexibility of movement. No oils or lotions are used.

Josephine Mackay
As a yoga teacher trained in the Kripalu tradition, a traditional thai massage therapist, and a meditation instructor in the Shambhala Buddhist lineage, Josephine’s practice and teaching combines the wisdom of these ancient approaches. She loves to explore the dynamic interplay between mind and body. Her primary inspiration is to share the teachings and practices closest to heart, so as to develop awareness, strength, flexibility, and compassion in a holistic approach to health and well-being.

Her qualities of warmth, openness, and precision make for an experience that is inspiring, revitalizing, and calming. Member of the RMQ.

Ô Lotus offers group, private, and semi-private yoga classes for people of all ages and levels of experience. In a style that is both dynamic and fluid, the classes explore a wide range of postures, including variations to suit students of all levels. Each class begins with a short period of centering and breathing to synchronize body and mind. We continue with a warm-up and a flowing sequence of postures before ending with a final deep relaxation. The classes explore a range of themes and aspects of practice, including grounding, opening the heart, finding our limit, and how to practice with gentleness toward ourselves.

At Ô Lotus, the therapeutic approach is rooted in
traditional Indian medicine, Ayurveda. The term Ayurveda is made up of two sanskrit words: ayur (life) and veda (knowledge). This science of life serves as a guide for the maintenance of physical and mental well-being. Through this approach, based on the 5 natural elements, the practitioner is better able to respond to each person, according to their individual constitution. The client is guided in a holistic approach that combines massage, yoga postures, nutrition, lifestyle recommendations, all based on the specific needs of the individual, according to their ayurvedic constitution. This approach can be beneficial for the following conditions: chronic pain (back, shoulders, neck, legs, hips) headaches depression, anxiety, stress, burnout We also offer a variety of restorative yoga sessions, in which the client rests in various yoga postures, while supported by cushions, blankets and bolsters, providing powerful therapeutic effects and deep relaxation. Like all Ô Lotus services, our therapeutic approach is based on the principles of gentleness and compassion.
